Jeep Tour Side or a Quad or Buggy Day: Riding Along or Steering
Both get you off the tarmac and covered in dust. The difference that matters is your hands: on the jeep tour they hold on, on a quad or buggy they do the steering.
Short answer
Choose the jeep tour if you want to be driven: a professional driver takes the open-top 4x4 across riverbeds and stream crossings while you watch the scenery, with lunch, a swim and a guide in a full day. Choose a quad or buggy if the point for you is to steer the machine yourself. We sell the jeep tours here; our sister site sidebuggysafari.de sells buggy and quad days from Side and sets out its own terms.
Two different jobs for the guest
| Jeep tour (this site) | Quad or buggy | |
|---|---|---|
| Who drives | A professional driver; guests never do | You steer it yourself |
| What you do | Ride, look, take photographs, get splashed | Concentrate on the track in front of you |
| Company | Eight to ten guests share each jeep | See the sister site for how its days run |
| The day around it | Roman bridge, aqueducts, Green Lake viewpoint, a swim, lunch by the lake | See the sister site |
| Price and ages | €20 per adult, €10 for ages 2 to 10, under 2 free | Set by the sister site, not here |
Who the jeep tour suits
Guests who want the hills without having to think about them. Because someone else is driving, you can turn round in your seat at the aqueducts, watch the water come up at a stream crossing, and hand a child a snack while the jeep bumps along. It suits mixed parties well: grandparents, small children, people who have never driven off-road and have no wish to start.
It is also a full sightseeing day rather than only a ride: about 8 hours with stops at the old bridge, the arches, the lake from above, a village swim and pancakes, the dam, the canyon view, and lunch. The classic Side jeep tour page lists the lot.
Who a quad or buggy suits
Guests for whom the fun is in the controls: the throttle, the steering, choosing the line through a rut. If sitting in the back of a jeep would leave you wishing you were at the wheel, a jeep tour will frustrate you, because nobody but the driver drives it, ever.
We do not publish anything about the quad or buggy days here, not the price, the ages, the licence question, the length or the route, because those belong to the people who run them. sidebuggysafari.de states all of that for its own buggy and quad days from Side.
Doing both in one holiday
They do not overlap much. The jeep day is a scenic, social day out with food and a swim; a quad or buggy day is about handling a vehicle. A family can split it: everyone on the jeep tour together, and the keen drivers off on their own another day. For how rough the jeep's off-road part actually is, read the off-road part.
